Pasquale wines are all created in the dry Alsatian style and are
aging beautifully, not unlike white Burgundian wines.
Pasquale is producing amazing award winning wines from New Zealand's newest wine growing region, the Waitaki Valley, North Otago in the South Island of New Zealand. Pasquale is proud of our 187 awards in just eight short years.Waitaki is in the north of the Otago region (completely separate from Central Otago), where – unusual for New Zealand – there are limestone soils, as well as some alluvial deposits. Pasquale’s vineyards are in both the Waitaki and Hakataramea valleys (the latter is more alpine and has more limestone). The climate here is quite cool, with very cold winters but summers that can get quite warm. The wines available are Pinot Gris, Riesling Dry, Riesling 16, Gewurztraminer and the beautiful blend Alma Mater.
The 2010 Pinot Gris is less intense than the Grigio with a delicate floral and spice character yielding discernable notes of orange blossom, frangipani, mace and white pepper. The medium bodied palate has a touch of sweetness with a satiny texture and crisp acid giving lift through the long, honeyed finish.
